JFB: International Man of Mystery
Who is your mysterious host? And what is this all about?
I’m JFB. I write computer software, primarily digital video processing software. I care a lot about scaling and color conversion, but at times I’ve also been a real pill about relational databases and the utter failure of SQL. I worked for a spell at a medium-sized hardware company, which was fun, remunerative, and stressful. Since then, my friend Thomas and I started a (Y-Combinator funded) small consumer web service, and nowadays I’m doing contract video processing stuff for another local startup.
Other factoids:
- I play the guitar, usually loudly, always poorly;
- my teams are Aston Villa and The Minnesota TWINT;
- born in La Jolla, CA, but I prefer to mention my toddlerhood in Palau, because that’s a lot cooler;
- my middle name is “Felix”;
- my motto is borrowed from Thomas Hobbes – Homo homini lupus (“Man is wolf to man”); it’s an elegant summation of my fundamental political beliefs;
- and, I’ve recently lost a boatload of weight:
